The Cask Mates will be on hiatus while the COVID-19 pandemic is making the rounds. While we do live in Texas, which as of this post has not experienced any large outbreaks, and none of our regular hosts have shown any symptoms of the virus, several of us do work in high-contact jobs. Because of that, we thought it would be a good idea to hold off on getting together and recording new episodes until the general population is advised to return to their usual routines.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to follow these basic recommended instructions for keeping yourself healthy. Wash your hands, avoid touching your face including mouth, nose, and eyes, cover your coughs and sneezes, and practice social distancing by staying home, except when necessary. Symptoms of this respiratory disease may include fever, cough, and shortness of breath and may show up between 2 and 14 days after exposure. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek medical care.
Also, make sure to clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, but remember that whiskey (or even vodka) is not a disinfectant. It won’t kill the virus, but it couldn’t hurt to have a dram during these times to help lift your mood instead. For more information please visit CDC.gov/covid19 and we will hopefully see you soon. Cheers and stay safe.
